Digital Desk: Ranbir Kapoor, the acclaimed Bollywood actor, has opened up about growing up amidst the challenges faced by his parents, legendary actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, in their marriage. In a candid interview over a decade ago, Ranbir shed light on the difficulties his family navigated during a tumultuous phase in his parent's relationship.

"At that time, the press didn't matter much to me, because I was also in the fire zone. I live with my parents, and seeing them go through that phase, I was very much a part of it. I was right there," Ranbir recalled, speaking to The Big Indian Picture during the release of his film Rockstar.

Ranbir, who grew up in the family's bungalow, shared heartbreaking details of the late-night arguments he witnessed between his parents. "I live in a bungalow; my parents live downstairs, I live on the floor above. I remember sitting on the staircases for four-four hours, from 1 am to 5 am, hearing them fight, break things," he said.

The actor acknowledged that while every family faces challenges, his parents' struggles were amplified due to their celebrity status. "Everyone goes through it, it's just that my parents were celebrities, it was out there in the press. It was a little embarrassing in school. Your friends don't mention it, because they're good friends, but somewhere there was a sense of, 'I know what's happening'," Ranbir shared.

Despite the difficulties, Ranbir expressed his admiration for how his parents navigated their marriage. "But you deal with it," he said, reflecting on the resilience and strength his parents displayed in overcoming their marital challenges.

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor's love story has inspired many. The couple tied the knot on January 22, 1980, and welcomed their first child, Riddhima Kapoor, in September of the same year. Their son, Ranbir Kapoor, was born in September 1982.

After taking a break from acting to focus on her family, Neetu Kapoor made a comeback in 2009. She has since appeared in several notable films, including Dooni Chaar, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Besharam, Special 26, and Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Tragically, Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
