Digital Desk: An important Indian diaspora organisation will host the annual India Day Parade in New York next month under the leadership of Pushpa star Allu Arjun as India celebrates its 75th anniversary of independence.
Grand celebrations of India's 75th anniversary of independence, known as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, have been planned by the Federation of Indian Associations(FIA) of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Arjun, the Telugu Stylish superstar whose films have been popular all over India, will serve as the Grand Marshal at the 40th India Day Parade on August 21 this year, according to FIA President Kenny Desai.
Desai also revealed specifics regarding the significant celebrations of India's 75th anniversary of independence that FIA has planned for the upcoming weeks and months.
During its 4th Parade Council meeting, FIA announced that renowned artists Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher would direct the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebrations.
According to the FIA, the Guinness World Records for the "Most Different Flags Flown Simultaneously" and the "Largest Ensemble Damaru" will be attempted at this year's parade.
The FIA India Day parade is one of the most significant cultural extravaganzas in the US. It is considered the largest parade outside India to commemorate the country's independence.
Along with Mayor of New York City Eric Adams and a host of other illustrious dignitaries and celebrities, Arjun will serve as the parade's Grand Marshal.
Allu Arjun was named the 40th Grand Marshal of the FIA, and FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya "complimented the megastar for his kindness and patriotism towards the motherland."
According to Vaidya, the Indian-American community is "palpably excited" to welcome the well-known superstar, and the FIA will make sure he feels at home in the US.
Desai expressed his gratitude for the work and efforts of the FIA committee and said he is proud to be a member of the group that has been working tirelessly around the clock to organise this enormous event.
To celebrate India's Independence Day, tens of thousands of members of the Indian diaspora gather in Manhattan's central business district. The day-long celebration includes unique food stalls, a cultural fest and floats by various Indian organisations based in the US.
Annually, well-known Indian artists and celebrities are invited to serve as the parade's grand marshals and chief guests. The parade was attended by actors Arjun Rampal, Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunny Deol, and Raveena Tandon.
