GU student leaders seek High Court’s intervention in UGC examination guidelines

Guwahati: Gauhati University student leaders Moon Talukdar (General Secretary) and Bishdeeo Kakati, Assistant General Secretary wrote to the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court seeking his intervention in the UGC’s examination guidelines for the final year students in Assam amid the ongoing pandemic.

They mentioned that the final year students must be promoted in the basis of seminars, assignments and their average marks in the previous semesters and the students should be given an opportunity to upgrade their marks later when the Pandemic is over.

The student leaders also mentioned that as most of the academic institutions have been converted in quarantine centres, if the students in the educational institutions to write the exams, hygiene and safety issues also come into play.

Moreover, it was mentioned in the letter the exams are being postponed every now and then which creates a fear of the loss of the academic year. The letter also puts a focus on the mental harassment students might undergo amid this hour of crisis.
