The number of swine flu cases and fatalities in the state increased from 129 in 2020 to 387 and two, respectively, in 2021. The state registered an average of 32 swine flu infections per month in 2021, but 386 instances have been reported in the last seven months, according to data from the health department. Of these, the Pune municipality's jurisdiction recorded a total of 1,030 swine flu illnesses and 43 fatalities- the highest number among the 36 districts, Pune coming in second with 379 cases.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra surveillance officer Dr. Pradeep Awate claimed that a number of causes are to blame for the rise in instances.
