Bharat Bandh: Farmer’s block roads and railway tracks

Several farmers staging a protest at Delhi borders for months have called a 12-hour long Bharat Bandh today to press for their demands. The band has started at 6am today and will go on till 6pm today.

Farmers, farm laborers, commission agents, trade unions and activists of political parties are all currently participating in the bharat bandh very actively.

Many activists of farmers associations in Punjab have asked traders to keep their business establishments and shops closed to observe the bharat bandh. Patiala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Jhalandar and in many other parts of Punjab roads and highways have been blocked.

A group of farmers were also seen dancing at the Ghaziapur border during the bandh.

Congress and several other parties have announced their support to the 12 hour bandh. Member of Parliament and a member of the Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi has also tweeted in his support to the farmer’s declared bharat bandh, “History of India is a witness that Satyagraha itself leads to the end of tyranny, injustice and arrogance. May the movement be in the interest of the country and be peaceful!”
