The Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 is a flagship Assam government initiative offering financial assistance to economically disadvantaged households through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This updated guide explains how to apply for the Orunodoi Scheme online, outlines key eligibility criteria, and helps potential women beneficiaries understand the required documents and steps for hassle-free application in 2025.
The Orunodoi Scheme (also called Arunodoi Asoni) was launched by the Government of Assam on October 2, 2020, as a poverty alleviation program. The scheme has evolved, with the current Orunodoi 3.0 being the latest version introduced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Under this welfare initiative, eligible beneficiaries receive monthly financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to their bank accounts.
The scheme primarily targets women beneficiaries, recognizing their role as primary caretakers of families. Orunodoi has become the largest DBT scheme in Assam, supporting over 19 lakh families in previous phases. Orunodoi 3.0 aims to include 12 lakh new beneficiaries at the rate of 10,000 households per Legislative Assembly Constituency.
The financial assistance provided has increased over time:
Initially started with Rs. 830 per month
Increased to Rs. 1,000 per month
Currently provides Rs. 1,250 to Rs. 1,400 per month
Funds are transferred on the 10th of every month directly to the beneficiary's bank account. This helps households purchase essential items like medicines, pulses, and sugar.
