    IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain Across Assam, Puts 13 Districts on Yellow Alert
    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for 13 districts across Assam

    Digital Desk: IMD has announced that Assam will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two to three days. Data shows extremely heavy  rainfall in and around Guwahati on 20th  May, with AAU-HRS receiving 115 mm, Guwahati AWS getting 112.5 mm, Mirza recording 110 mm, and IASST-Kamrup registering 100 mm.

    It is predicted that both western and southern Assam might receive even more rain, while some places may report up to 200 mm. Prolonged rainfall in Guwahati could increase flooding, disrupt the flow of vehicles, and lead to fallen trees or small landslides in certain parts of the city.

    According to IMD, 13 districts in Assam are put under a Yellow Alert because the state has been experiencing continuous and irregular rainfall.

    South Salmara
    Dhubri
    Kokrajhar
    Chirang
    Baksa
    Goalpara
    Nalbari
    Kamrup (Rural)
    Kamrup (Metro)
    Dima Hasao
    Cachar
    Sribhumi
    Hailakandi

    The authorities are preparing emergency  service  in case of danger. Those commuting by car should avoid going to areas that may flood and track official tips from the authorities closely. The IMD authorities have advised residents living in these districts to stay careful and regularly check the news, as constant heavy rain is yet to pass. Emergency teams are prepared for any situation. Residents living in low-lying and hilly places are warned by officials to stay inside and follow the advice given as the rain continues.
