Maruti introduces the 5-door Jimny SUV, with a starting price of 12.74 lakh

The Jimny has a 1.5-litre petrol engine and may be purchased through a subscription plan for an all-inclusive monthly charge starting at 33,550.

    Digital Desk: Maruti Suzuki
disclosed the MSRP of its much-anticipated SUV, the Jimny, on Wednesday. The
automobile will be available in six different variations, with the base model
starting at 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Jimny Alpha AT (Dual Tone) will be
priced at 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti hopes that its new offering would
not only increase sales but also position it as a competitive contender in the
rapidly rising sports utility vehicle market, where it hopes to take the top
    spot.

    The business intends it to
compete with other vehicles like as the Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara for the
top spot in the SUV sector. The Jimny has a 1.5-litre petrol engine and may be
purchased through a subscription plan for an all-inclusive monthly charge
    starting at 33,550.

    The Jimny will be available
in the following trims, according to the price list: Zeta MT (Rs 12.74 lakh),
Zeta AT (Rs 13.94 lakh), Alpha MT (Rs 13.69 lakh), Alpha AT (Rs 14.89 lakh),
and two dual tone models - Alpha MT (Rs 13.85 lakh) and Alpha AT (Rs 15.05
    lakh). Prices are all ex-showroom.

    The vehicle was first shown
at the Auto Expo in January of this year.

    Shashank Srivastava, Senior
Executive Officer (Sales and Marketing) of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), told
reporters weeks before the car's official launch that Jimny will have a
favourable impact on the automaker's entire brand value.

    "It is an important
product in terms of the overall Maruti brand's rub off effect."Jimny has a
reputation as a capable SUV, which will undoubtedly aid us in our overall SUV
effort in the country," he told reporters.

    Maruti has spent 960 crore
creating the five-door vehicle. Suzuki has sold over 3.2 million Jimnys in 199
    countries and regions worldwide.

    The model with three doors
is sold globally by the carmaker. It is the first time a five-door variant has
    been released.
