Digital Desk: The largest lender in the country, State Bank, announced on Wednesday that it now has the highest home loan book in the sector after surpassing the Rs 6-lakh-crore threshold.
The bank also made a festive offer for house loan buyers to commemorate the event, waiving the processing fee through January 31, 2023, and offering an interest rate discount of up to 25 basis points on rates starting at 8.40 percent. Balance transfers will also be subject to a lower interest rate.
The bank announced in a statement that it had reached the Rs 5 lakh crore milestone in January 2021 and that it is the first lender to reach the Rs 6 lakh crore milestone in the residential house category.
As part of its holiday promotion, SBI will grant discounts of up to 0.25 percent on house loans, 0.15 percent on top-up loans, and 0.30 percent on loans secured by real estate, according to the bank. Processing fees will also be waived through January 31, 2023.
