Zomato's deputy CFO Nitin Savara quits to start his own company
Nitin Savara is leaving Zomato in order to launch his own company.

Digital Desk: Nitin Savara, Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a startup in food delivery firm Zomato, has resigned, the business announced in an exchange statement.

Notably, the news comes only one day after Zomato's inaugural annual general meeting. Zomato, on the other hand, stated in its submission that Savara was not classified as an important managerial staff. Savara is leaving Zomato to establish his own company.

CEO Deepinder Goyal addressed Savara in a Slack announcement, saying, "In your brief term, you have moved our finance team several leaps forward, and we shall be forever thankful to you for that." The disclosure to the exchange included a snapshot of the Slack announcement.

Savara previously worked as a partner at the consulting firm Ernst & Young. He started working at Zomato in November of last year.

"Nitin Savara loves Zomato, and as much as I and Akshant (CFO) tried to keep him with us for the previous several weeks...it didn't work because Nitin is really enthused about what he wants to do, and no one can stop him," Goyal added.

On Wednesday, Zomato had its first annual general meeting, at which it reaffirmed its commitment to growing its topline and assured investors that the company is on pace to attain profitability.
