As per health ministry officials, 98% of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine...

Digital Desk: Around four crore eligible beneficiaries had not received even a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of July 18, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Lok Sabha.

"Up to July 18, a total of 1,78,38,52,566 vaccine doses (97.34%) were administered free of charge in Government Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs)," she said in a written reply.

In response to a question on the number and percentage of people who have not even taken a single dosage of the Covid vaccine, she said, "As of July 18, an estimated four crore eligible beneficiaries have not received even a single dose of Covid vaccine."

Precaution dosages were made accessible without charge to healthcare professionals (HCWs), frontline workers (FLWs), and all beneficiaries over 60 years old starting on March 16 of this year in government CVCs and to individuals in the age group of 18 to 59 starting on April 10 in private CVCs.

A special 75-day campaign to administer precaution doses to all people aged 18 and up at government immunization centers began on July 15.

As part of the government's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark the 75th anniversary of India's Independence, the "COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava" is being held to increase the uptake of Covid precaution doses among the eligible population.

As per health ministry officials, 98% of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, with 90% fully immunized.
