Digital desk: Due to the rising cost of tomatoes, consumers are trying to reduce their intake to control their overall spending. Now, in a strange incident, a farmer from Pune, Maharashtra, has reported to the police that 400 kg of his tomatoes have been stolen, officials stated.

The farmer informed the police that he had a loss of over Rs 40,000. Notably, tomatoes are being sold in many states at around Rs 100 and Rs 200 per kg. According to reports, the complainant Arun Dhome informed the police that he brought tomatoes to his home in Shirur tehsil in a vehicle with the help of laborers after harvesting them from his farm.

The farmer told the police that he would sell the tomatoes in the market and make a huge profit. But when he woke up the next morning, he claimed to have found 20 missing containers of the precious vegetable, each weighing over 400 kg.

"After realizing that his tomatoes had been stolen, Dhome approached the Shirur police station and lodged a complaint," officials stated.

However, a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
