Guwahati: The 38th Abhiruchi Sports Day was observed in high apparitions in Guwahati today. The day is commemorated every year to mark the birth anniversary of the first Arjuna awardee of the state, Bhogeshwar Baruah.

As part of the observation, a cycle rally was carried in the state capital. The minister hailed the gathering from Chandmari to Nehru Stadium for sports and youth welfare, Bimal Borah. Bhogeshwar Baruah was present at the flagging off ceremony.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his opinion concerning the day on Twitter. He posted that he was assured that the Sports Day arranged would inspire youths towards games and get the state to great ends in the domain.

Previously, the state government determined to induct international archery winner Sanajy Boro and international boxing winner Jamuna Boro in the excise department as inspectors.

The cabinet had decided to hand over the approval letters to both of them at the event of the Abhiruchi Sports Day (on Friday).
