  • Two young students lost their lives to drowning in Dhubri

Digital Desk: A tragic incident unfolded in Borokhosua village, Tamarhat in Dhubri, where two young students lost their lives to drowning. On Sunday, when schools were closed, the two girls from Borjan village went fishing near a water body in Borkhosua village.


The victims were identified as Reshamina Parveen, a seventh-grade student at at Borjan ME school and daughter of Jainal Sheikh, and Kulsuma Khatoon, a sixth-grade student and daughter of Kuddush Sheikh.  


Local residents spotted the girls in the water and promptly rescued them.


The families rushed the girls to Tamarhat Primary Health Center and later transferred them to Gouripur Nursing for better treatment.


Tragically, the doctor declared both of them dead upon arrival.


The incident is believed to have been caused by illegal sand mining in the area, which has sparked outrage and strong reactions among the community.
