Digital Desk: The number of COVID-19 cases in India increased by more than 11,000 on Tuesday, according to the Union Health Ministry, increasing the total number of active cases to 96,700.

11,793 coronavirus cases were reported in the span of 24 hours, increasing the total number of infections to 86.14 cr, according to data updated by the ministry at 8 am, and 4,73,717 tests were carried out in the previous 24 hours.

The weekly positivity rate was 3.36 percent, and the daily positivity rate was 2.49 percent, according to the ministry.

Up to 9,486 recoveries have been made in the most recent day, bringing the total to 4, 27, 97,092 occasions.

According to the government, 197.31 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccination have been given across the country as of right now.

On August 7, 2020, there were more than 20 lakh COVID-19 infections in India. On August 23, there were 30 lakh, on September 5 there were 40 lakh, on September 16 there were 50 lakh, on September 28 there were 60 lakh, on October 11 there were 70 lakh, on October 29 there were 80 lakh, on November 20 there were 90 lakh, and on December 19 there were one crore.

The country reached the sombre milestones of two crore instances, three crore cases, and four crore cases on May 4, 2021, June 23, 2021, and January 25, this year, respectively.

The administration is committed to expanding and scaling up the COVID-19 vaccination programme across the country.

The immunisation campaign has grown as a result of the availability of more vaccinations, early communication of vaccine availability to States and UTs enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

To date, the government has provided States and UTs with around 193.53 crore doses of vaccination via the free channel and direct state purchase. While the States and UTs still have over 11.81 crore in unutilized balances and vaccine doses that are prepared for administration.
