Digital Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in World Cup history to score five goals during Portugal's Group H opening against Ghana on Thursday at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar.
Ronaldo now aged 37 accomplished the milestone in the 65th minute against Black Stars, bringing his overall record in five editions to eight goals.
The attacker fell in the penalty area while attempting to get the ball back from Ghana in its area and scored, breaking many FIFA World Cup records in the process.
The players with four World Cup goals are Uwe Seeler, Pele, Miroslav Klose, and Lionel Messi. During Tuesday's 1-2 loss to Saudi Arabia for Argentina, Messi became the newest member of the group.

How many goals other than penalties has Ronaldo scored in the World Cup?
Ronaldo has scored eight goals, five of which have occurred without the need of a penalty kick; the other three, his first against Iran in 2006, second against Spain in 2018, and last goal against Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in 2022, all came from the spot.
Ronaldo also broke the record for the event's second-oldest goal scorer. Roger Milla of Cameroon, who scored against Russia in the 1994 World Cup in the US at the age of 42, holds the record for the oldest player to score in a World Cup.
With 118 goals, Ronaldo already owns the record for most goals scored in men's football history.
