Digital Desk: A man recently traveled to India and is now suspected of having contracted the monkeypox (Mpox) virus, according to the health ministry. The patient has been isolated and admitted to a hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable. Tests are being conducted to confirm the presence of the Mpox virus. The individual traveled from a country currently experiencing Mpox transmission.

The health ministry emphasized that the case is being managed according to established protocols, including contact tracing to identify potential sources and assess the impact within the country. They reassured the public that there is no need for "undue concern," as the situation aligns with the earlier "risk assessment" conducted by the National Centre for Disease Control.

The country is well-prepared to handle isolated travel-related cases and has robust measures in place to manage and mitigate any potential risks.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared the recent outbreak of Mpox, which spreads through contact, as a public health emergency of international concern on August 14, following the identification of a new variant.
