Digital Desk: In a momentous achievement for Assam, Biswanath Ghat, located towards the south of Biswanath Chariali Town, has been selected as the Best Tourism Village in India for the year 2023 by the Ministry of Tourism. Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced the news on platform X, stating, "Happy to share that Biswanath Ghat has been selected as the Best Tourism Village of India 2023 by the Ministry of Tourism."

The recognition comes after the village triumphed over stiff competition, with a staggering 791 entries from 31 states and union territories vying for the prestigious title. Biswanath Ghat's selection underscores the state government's commendable efforts in promoting rural tourism in Assam.

Nestled along the banks of the majestic Brahmaputra River, Biswanath Ghat derives its name from the ancient Biswanath Temple, often referred to as Gupta Kashi, drawing parallels with the renowned city of Kashi during the illustrious reign of the Guptas.

This accolade not only shines a spotlight on Biswanath Ghat but also underscores the immense potential of Assam as a burgeoning tourism destination. Visitors can now look forward to exploring the charm and cultural richness of this exceptional village.
