Digital Desk: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit Bangladesh once more to strengthen the long-standing ties between the two countries. In reference to Assam's contribution to the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, which was fought by Bangladesh's Mukti Bahini and Indian forces, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "Nine heroic Assamese warriors shed their lives in the Bangladesh Liberation War, a historic event. Some Assam Police officials instructed and outfitted Mukti Bahini members.

This happened as the Chief Minister was speaking with a group of 25 "Muktijoddhas" who were spending three days in Guwahati and Shillong.

"The visit is part of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations coordinated by High Commission of India in Bangladesh & Act East Policy Affairs, GoA," Sarma tweeted after greeting the team on Monday night. Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrates the 50th anniversary of the allies' victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, while Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav honours the 75th anniversary of India's freedom.
