Guwahati: After the Assam-Mizoram border, tension escalated following a grenade blast at a primary school in the Gutguti area, Hailakandi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to write Mizoram Chief Minister requesting for an investigation into the incident.


CM Sarma said, “An investigation will be conducted for the school blast and will appeal the Mizoram CM to do the same.”


“Our intelligence reports said that sporadic incidents might occur along the border, which I had mentioned in the assembly on Friday,” added CM Sarma.


The police said that a school building wall in the Gutguti area was damaged; however, it was not major damage.


Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Gaurav Upadhyay, said, “The blast occurred at about 11.30 pm at a school building. However, no major damage occurred to the property. We are investigating the case.”


Earlier, in October 2020, two schools situated at Assam were bombed by some miscreants from Mizoram.


Moreover, on Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state government has set up 20 border police outposts-old in the Barak Valley to check encroachment from Mizoram.
