Nagaon: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle after firing on one of his colleagues in Nagaon district on Thursday.

According to reports, the incident took place inside a CRPF camp.

The deceased, jawan, who has been identified as Vijay Mishra, allegedly shot his colleague on his leg after, injuring him. Both of them were involved in a heated argument just before the incident took place.

Mishra had gone to the barracks to deposit the arms, but instead of depositing, he openly fired at his colleague, who has been identified as Pranjal Dutta.

“Vijay fired at the leg of Pranjal by using his service rifle and fled from the area. Later Vijay allegedly committed suicide with his service rifle,” the CRPF official said.

Meanwhile, the injured CRPF jawan was immediately rushed to the Nagaon Civil Hospital.
The CRPF official also informed that police investigations are ongoing and a departmental inquiry will be initiated.
