Digital Desk: A mobile phone robbery racket operating close to the Bura Police outpost Chowki in the Darrang district was successfully tracked down on Tuesday night in a decisive operation by the Crime Branch of the Assam police and the Darrang police.

During the operation, 18 stolen cell phones were found and a key suspect was apprehended.

During questioning, the suspect who was apprehended, known as Ubedul Islam, supplied significant information that helped identify a different offender who was involved in the illegal activities.

A team from the Hatigaon police traced the specifically identified person, Sahil Hussain, in Guwahati's Hatigaon neighbourhood, where he was detained. Sahil Hussain, who hails from Barpeta is thought to have been a key accused in the plan.


The specified suspect, Sahil Hussain, was tracked down to Guwahati's Hatigaon district and detained by a Hatigaon police force. Sahil Hussain, from Barpeta, is thought to have played an important part in the racket.

However, the hunt for a mobile robbery gang is intensifying in various sections of the state.

One of the arrested man's vehicles is seized by the Police-Crime Branch and reportedly, the two are currently being held by the Hatigaon police.

The authorities are determined to conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify any potential collaborators or links to the stolen mobile phone racket.
