The seven individuals had been detained from different places across Assam for supporting the harrowing attack by defending Pakistan and its involvement in terrorism through the backing of various designated terrorist organisations.

Digital Desk: Assam police have arrested seven individuals, including AIUDF MLA of Dhing constituency, Aminul Islam from Nagaon for their pro-Pakistan posts-old on social media platforms after the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley on April 22.

The seven individuals had been detained from different places across Assam for supporting the harrowing attack by defending Pakistan and its involvement in terrorism through the backing of various designated terrorist organisations.

The detained individuals are:

1. Jabir Hussain of Hailakandi
2. A K Bahauddin of Silchar
3. Javed Mazumdar of Silchar
4. Mahahar Mia of Morigaon
5. Mujihirul Islam of Morigaon
6. AIUDF MLA, Aminul Islam of Nagaon
7. Sahil Ali of Sivasagar

Taking to X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "Assam will not tolerate any individual who, directly or indirectly, supports or defends Pakistan in connection with the heinous attack in Pahalgam."

CM Sarma also said that authorities would arrest more individuals as part of the ongoing crackdown.

The Pahalgam terror attack, considered one of the deadliest attacks in J&K since the 2019 Pulwama attack, claimed the lives of 28 Indians following an open fire by the Resistance Force (TRF), a local offshoot of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba on April 22.
