Digital Desk: As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Badruddin Ajmal's increasing political involvement in the state has raised concerns among the thinking citizens of Assam. Some conscious circles within the state have accused Ajmal of playing divisive politics with the potential to sow communal discord.

It has become a recurring pattern that before each election, Badruddin Ajmal emerges as a prominent figure in state politics, often making communal remarks that garner significant attention. He has faced allegations of having a hidden agenda, with some going so far as to claim that he is the "B-team" of the BJP, suggesting that he might indirectly support the BJP's interests.

Ajmal's sudden resurgence in the political arena coincides with a growing public dissatisfaction with the government's performance in the lead-up to the elections. Some critics argue that his presence in politics distracts the public from crucial national and fundamental issues, as some quarters appear to engage in vote bank politics through religious polarization and extreme communal remarks.

One particular strategy employed by these quarters has been an attempt to consolidate Hindu-origin votes by using Ajmal's remarks. However, it appears that this tactic may not be as effective this time.

The politics of religious polarization, with Ajmal at the forefront, has seen mixed results this time. His comments and the reactions of BJP leaders have not had the same impact as in previous elections.

Notably, even when cases are registered against Ajmal for his communal remarks, the government has been criticized for failing to take any substantial action, with government representatives seemingly preoccupied with Ajmal's political activities. This situation continues to be a topic of concern and debate in the state's political landscape as the elections draw closer.
