Digital Desk:  Bharat Biotech's Covaxin has been given limited emergency use authorization by the Drug Controller General of India for children aged 6 to 12 years. Covaxin had been approved by the panel for emergency use in children older than 12 years in December 2021.

During the first two months, safety data, including that on adverse events, will be submitted every 15 days, then every month for five months.

Bharat Biotech was asked by DCGI's Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on April 21 to provide additional data on the administration of Covaxin to children in the age group of 2-12 years.

The panel recommended that Corbevax, the Covid-19 vaccine from Biological E, be granted emergency use authorization for children aged five to 11 with certain conditions.
