Digital Desk: BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut stirred controversy on Thursday by announcing that she would only meet constituents from Mandi if they presented their Aadhaar cards. During the launch of her Jan Samvad Kendra, Ranaut emphasized the need for verification, citing the influx of visitors in Himachal Pradesh. She aims to ensure that only residents seek her assistance.

Ranaut stated that this requirement would help reduce inconvenience for local residents. She also requested that constituents prepare in advance by writing down the purpose of their visit.

As a Lok Sabha MP, Ranaut clarified her role involves addressing national-level issues rather than just local concerns. She encouraged constituents to bring matters to her attention that align with her broader responsibilities.

Her remarks, however, faced backlash from Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, who contested against her for the Mandi seat. Singh criticized the move, asserting that representatives should engage with all citizens regardless of documentation. He argued that constituents should not need to present their Aadhaar cards to discuss their issues.

This comes in the wake of Ranaut’s recent altercation at the Chandigarh airport, where she was slapped by a CISF personnel over her past comments about women protesting in solidarity with farmers in 2020.

Despite the controversy, Ranaut is set to return to her acting career with her upcoming film "Emergency," a biopic on Indira Gandhi, further intertwining her political and cinematic pursuits.
