These slanderous, vicious, and defamatory claims greatly injured the global community of ISKCON devotees...

Digital Desk: ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness sent BJP MP Maneka Gandhi a Rs 100 crore defamation notice over her remark that the religious organization sells cows to butchers for slaughter. The devotees were "deeply pained" by the remarks, according to the ISKCON, which called the allegations "completely unfounded".

"Today, we sent Maneka Gandhi with a Rs 100 crore defamation notice for making completely false accusations against ISKCON. These slanderous, vicious, and defamatory claims greatly injured the global community of ISKCON devotees, supporters, and well-wishers. We will not leave any stone unturned in our pursuit of justice against the fallacious propaganda against ISKCON, Radharaman Das, vice president of ISKCON Kolkata, stated.

The BJP MP went on to claim that while she was recently at an ISKCON Gaushala in Andhra Pradesh and did not find, "not even a single cow in good condition there."  Gandhi stated, "There were no calves in the Gaushala, which means all of them were sold off."

ISKCON vehemently denied these claims, calling them "unsubstantiated and false."
