The Left Front chose not to participate in the counting process, claiming widespread tampering throughout the election process...

Digital Desk: The ruling BJP has won a huge victory in the Boxanagar and Dhanpur Assembly constituencies in Tripura, where the by-poll was held on 5 September.

Vote counting for the by-elections on September 5 began at 8 a.m. As other opposition parties elected not to participate, the ruling BJP and the opposition CPI(M) faced off for both seats, Boxanagar and Dhanpur.

Tafajjal Hossain and Bindu Debnath of the BJP steered in Boxanagar and Dhanpur, respectively. Mizan Hossein (Boxanagar) and Kaushik Chanda (Dhanpur) are their CPI(M) opponents.

Reportedly, the Left Front chose not to participate in the counting process, claiming widespread tampering throughout the election process. They claim that the Election Commission of India (ECI) failed to take appropriate safeguards to prevent tampering.

Tafajjal Hossain of the BJP won with 34,146 votes after the sixth round of counting, while Mizan Hossain of the CPI(M) received 3,909 votes.

In Dhanpur, BJP candidate Bindu Debnath received 30,017 votes, while CPI(M) candidate Kaushik Chanda received 11,146 votes.
