Digital Desk: Due to the ongoing covid pandemic this year, children below 15 years and unvaccinated individuals were barred from attending the Republic Day parade, Delhi police said. It also added that people would have to follow all covid-protocols, including wearing face masks and maintaining social distance and only the fully vaccinated people will be allowed to enter the venue on January 26. This practically implies that no one under the age of 18 will be present at the event, as the vaccination campaign for teenagers aged 15 to 18 only began this month. The Delhi police tweeted in Hindi, "It is necessary to have both doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine. Therefore, visitors are requested to bring their vaccination certificate." Notably, amid the rise of Omicron cases in the nation, from this month, the government has started administering the covid vaccine to children under the age group of 15-18 years.  Additionally, the healthcare and frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities have been administered the precaution doses. The Delhi police also mentioned in its guidelines that the visitor seating blocks would open at 7 a.m. Moreover, it added that visitors should use carpool or taxi services as parking is limited to a certain number. The visitors should also carry a valid identification card with them. The police tweeted, "There will be a provision for placing remote-controlled car lock keys in each parking space." Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana informed that over 27,000 police officers had been deployed for security operations in the national capital, with anti-terror precautions being stepped up ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. Asthana added that a traffic advisory for Republic Day has already been issued, indicating particular route limitations to ensure that the general public is not inconvenienced. According to a recent decision, in light of the Republic Day celebrations, sub-conventional aerial platforms, such as UAVs, paragliders, and hot air balloons, have been forbidden from flying over the national capital. The order took effect on January 20 and will be in effect until February 15.
