Srinagar/Shimla: At least 4 people have been reported dead and 30 others missing after a cloudburst hit a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday.

Rescue operations are being carried out to recover the missing persons as well as the deceased from the rubbles and slush caused due to the cloudburst.

Incessant rainfall in the valley has been creating havoc with many areas reporting of landslides and floods. Authorities have asked people residing near the water bodies and slide-prone areas to be alert.

“The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains during the upcoming days and water levels in rivers and nallas are expected to rise, which can pose a threat to the inhabitants residing near rivers, nallas, water bodies and slide-prone areas,” the district administration said in an advisory issued late on Tuesday night.

There was a cloudburst incident also reported from Himachal’s Lahaul-Spiti wherein 10 people have been reported missing.
