Guwahati: Assam Police has been steering ahead in their efforts to curb the menace of the illegal drugs trade in the state. In yet another successful crackdown, a joint operation was carried out last night by the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) including Chandmari Police Staff, Noonmati Police Staff & SOG, and apprehended 4 drugs traffickers at Pub Saraniya, Guwahati.
The arrested persons have been identified as:-
1) Jony Ali 28yrs, S/O- Lt. Mantu Ali, R/O Pub Saraniya, PS Chandmari
2) Altav Uddin Laskar 27yrs, S/O- Abdul Jalil, R/O Koilashpur, PS Noonmati
3) Ashok Chetry 25yrs, S/O Bhim Bahadur, Chetry, R/O Shastri Path, PS Chandmari
4) Rahul Das 26yrs, S/O Diku Das, R/O Gopal Road By Lane No.1, PS- Panbazar
Along with the drug traffickers, the followed items were also recovered:-
- 2.79 gms Heroin contained in 28 plastic vials,
- 2 air rifles and
- 7 mobile phones
The recovered material was seized as per procedure and a Chandmari PS Case No. 571/2021 U/S 21(a)/29 under the NDPS Act has been registered.
