Guwahati: The decision to reopen cinema halls in the state will be taken within 15 days said, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.

However, the reopening will fully depend on the covid-19 situation in the state.

Reportedly, the state government will observe the situation for the next 15 days, and if the rate of infection stays low, a decision will be taken according to it.
Since April, the Cinema halls of the state have been closed due to the second wave of covid-19.

The recently released SOP by the state government announced few relaxations; however, the All Assam Cinema Hall Employees Association was left out of it.

The Association urged the government to reopen the cinema halls as around 2,000 employees working in 80 cinema halls in the entire state are currently in misery due to the shutdown of the halls.
