Digital Desk: The new IMD report predicts that this weekend, starting on January 14, Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and other northern areas of India are likely to suffer another episode of cold waves. Even if temperatures in North India briefly increased this week, a meteorological expert has projected that January 2023 may still record as the region's coldest month, with a plunge of -4 degrees Celsius anticipated on the plains in the coming week.

Predicted rainfall in THESE states

The meteorological service predicted rain today and tomorrow in various north Indian states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and other surrounding regions, in addition to the extreme cold waves. According to RK Jenamani, an IMD weather expert, drizzle and light rain may also be common in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western UP, and North Rajasthan on January 12 and 13.

It is also predicted that snow may fall in Himalayan states like Jammu and Kashmir on January 12 and 14 as well as rain or snow in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Uttarakhand.

Delhi’s AQI

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi, which falls into the "extremely bad" category, increased on Thursday and was recorded at 335, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research.
