Digital Desk: In the IPL 2022 Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was penalised for violating the IPL Code of Conduct.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore's Dinesh Karthik has been penalised for violating the TATA Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's Eliminator encounter against Lucknow Super Giants on May 25th at Eden Gardens, Kolkata," the IPL said in a statement on Friday.

Karthik's infraction was classified as a Level 1 violation, with the match referee's ruling being final. The sentence was accepted by the experienced right-hander.

"Mr. Karthik accepted the sentence for the Level 1 infraction under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The Match Referee's judgement is final and binding for Level 1 Code of Conduct violations, according to the statement.

The official statement did not specify why Karthik was reprimanded, although it was most likely due to the right-reaction hander's to failing to make contact with an Avesh Khan ball in the RCB innings' last over.

Karthik shuffled across the court to attempt the ramp shot but failed to connect. He was furious.

Karthik stayed unbeaten on 37 off 23 balls, and he and centurion Rajat Patidar (112*) put on a stunning 92-run fifth-wicket stand off just 41 balls to take RCB to 207/4. The sum was too much for LSG to handle, and RCB triumphed by 14 runs.

In the Qualifier 2 match in Ahmedabad on Friday, the 2016 finalists will meet Rajasthan Royals for a position in the finals. On Sunday, the victor of the match will face Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2022 crown.
