Guwahati: Giving a major blow to the people, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) likely hiked the monthly per-unit cost of electricity by Rs. 2 as per reports.

In this context, APDCL has submitted a recommendation to the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC).

As per reports, after the approval from AERC, the price is likely to increase from the following year.

The current per-unit cost of electricity in the state, as defined by the AERC, is Rs 7.25 per unit for connections over 5kW load. In contrast, the cost for the connection below that is divided as follows: for the first 120 units consumed, the cost is 5.4 per unit.

It is 6.65 per unit for 120-240 units and 7.65 per unit for more than 240 units.
