Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday reportedly discovered a fake passport racket after conducting raids at over 50 locations in West Bengal and Sikkim.

According to sources, a case has been filed against 24 people, including 16 officials, for allegedly granting passports based on forgeries. Since Friday evening, raids have taken place in Kolkata, Gangtok, Siliguri, and other places.

The sources further stated that a middleman and a senior superintendent of Siliguri's Passport Seva Laghu Kendras (PSLK) have been detained. 

According to evidence confirmed by the CBI team, a certain private person is part of a network that aids in having passports issued on fraudulent documents with the assistance of government authorities, according to news agency ANI.
