Hailakandi: Taking advantage of the nighttime, Miscreants, suspected from the Mizoram side opened fire at the patrolling force. Assam police had to resort to gunfire along the Assam-Mizoram border in Hailakandi district.

A group of people suspected from the Mizoram side approached when Assam police were busy setting up a police outpost and as it was late night and too dark, the people opened fire.

There was no casualty on the Assam side, but as per reports a youth from Mizoram got a bullet injury during the incident and was admitted to a hospital.

As the situation was calm and peaceful in the last few days since the violent clash of July 26, the situation worsened again at the border following indiscriminate gun firing along the disputed Assam Mizoram Border area.
