Guwahati: Assam Government has come up with a scheme for inter-caste married couples, who would be provided with financial assistance. This announcement came as an initiative taken by the government to support couples facing financial issues after marriage.

The scheme will comprise couples whose inter-community marriages face strong opposition from their families. The state will grant an amount from which they can at least start a small business.

Only those couples can apply for the scheme whose marriage was conducted between April 2019 and March 2021. The couple should belong to an SC community and the other to the general caste. Additionally, the annual income of the couple shouldn't exceed Rs 5 lakh.

Those willing to get registered under the scheme may sign in themselves at assam.mygov.in. The last date for the submission of the application form is December 3, 2021.

This scheme will further promote social harmony among people in a society. Most of the time, it can be observed that families reject inter-caste marriages in Assam. This scheme will encourage a sense of harmony, appreciation, and balance in the state.
