Additionally, Assam is scheduled to get connectivity with five more international flight routes through the Udaan international programme of the Centre.

Digital Desk: Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport is all set to resume international passenger flight services from September 3, 2022. The resumption would be the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

According to officials, Druk Air, Bhutan's national airline, will restart service between Guwahati, Paro, and Singapore. Druk Air is the only international airline that offers service to Guwahati.

Additionally, Assam is scheduled to receive connectivity with five more international flight routes through the Udaan international programme of the Centre.

The Assam administration has been pleading with the Center to approve at least five additional international flight routes, including those to nearby nations like Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Nepal.

The only other international airport in the entire northeastern region, except LGBI Airport, was Imphal Airport in Manipur. The expansion of the region's tourism business has largely depended on air transport with neighbouring nations.
