Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured full support to the Assam Government as heavy rains trigger devastating floods in Assam.

In an X post on Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that HM Shah personally called him to enquire about the current situation in the state and offered all possible help during this time.

Taking to X, CM Sarma said that honourable Home Minister Amit Shah called him to enquire about the floods in Assam and offered all possible assistance to deal with the ongoing situation.

CM Sarma added that he briefed Shah on the measures being taken and also expressed gratitude for his concern and support.

Heavy rainfall caused massive waterlogging in different areas of Assam including Guwahati, affecting over 78,000 people in 17 districts.

Till Saturday evening, at least 8 people have lost their lives due to landslides and floods.
Rescue operations are underway by multiple agencies, including NDRF, SDRF, Assam Police, and Fire and Emergency services personnel in flood-hit areas.
