R Ashwin headed to Leicester with the Indian team ahead of their practice match.

Digital Desk: Before the commencement of the practice match in Leicester, now physically active R Ashwin joined the Rohit Sharma-led team, giving India a significant boost before the Test match against England. After testing positive for Covid-19, Ashwin was set to miss his flight to the UK.

Ashwin left for England after completing all the procedures. Before the start of the warm-up match between India and Leicestershire, BCCI shared photos from the training session on Twitter.

Notably, most of the Test specialists departed Mumbai for England on June 16, while captain Rohit Sharma met his colleagues there the next day. After the fifth and final T20I in Bengaluru was cancelled on Sunday due to rain, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, who was playing in the South Africa T20I series at home, travelled to England on Monday, June 19. On July 1, Birmingham will host the fifth Test of the rearranged series.

In the four-day match array against Leicestershire, India's skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bat first after winning the toss. For Leicestershire, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Prasidh Krishna will play. However, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Rohit's resurgence will be the subject of attention.
