As the Israeli military intensifies operations against the Palestinian group Hamas, fierce fighting continues near Gaza's hospitals, including the besieged region's major healthcare centre, Al-Shifa.

Thousands of patients and displaced people have gone south, fearful of a direct strike on the hospital. According to Palestinian officials, two newborns have died, and many more are at risk owing to fuel shortages caused by the intense fighting.

The Israeli military has revealed intentions to evacuate infants from Al-Shifa Hospital on Sunday, with an army spokesperson stating that forces will assist in the evacuation procedure.

Despite mounting international calls for a cease-fire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel's campaign against Gaza's ruling Hamas militants will continue with 'full vigour.'

In a televised address, Netanyahu emphasised that a truce would be possible only if all 239 hostages held in Gaza were released.
