At the national executive meeting, the PM was joined by 35 Union ministers, 12 chief ministers, 37 regional heads, and 350 party workers...

Digital Desk: On the final day of its national executive meeting on Tuesday, the BJP decided to extend national president Jagat Prakash Nadda's tenure till June 2024. This means that the party will run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under JP Nadda's leadership, said BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Ahead of the BJP's national executive meeting on Monday, sources told that he would get a term extension till the Lok Sabha polls. However, senior leaders remained tight-lipped about the matter. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the matter was not discussed at the meeting on Day 1.

However, on Day 2 of the meeting, Nadda's extension was announced. Shah stated that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the extension of Nadda's term. "I am convinced that, under the leadership of Modiji and Naddaji, the BJP will win an even larger majority in 2024, and Modiji will once again lead the nation as Prime Minister," Amit Shah stated.

According to the Union Home Minister, the BJP's membership drive has been halted due to Covid. "It will resume this year," he said.

"The entire world had to deal with the world's worst pandemic. Food had to be delivered to many villages, patients had to be taken to hospitals... BJP took up the responsibility during Covid and performed its duty," Shah said.

Nadda stated on Monday that the nine state assembly elections scheduled for this year are crucial in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He asked the party's national executive to make sure it did not lose any states.

Ahead of the BJP's meeting, PM Narendra Modi held a grand roadshow in Delhi, from Patel Chowk to the NDMC Center, the venue of the meeting. Numerous high-ranking officials attended the meeting, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Railways Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw, Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, among others.

At the national executive meeting, the PM was joined by 35 Union ministers, 12 chief ministers, 37 regional heads, and 350 party workers.
