The 65-year-old woman identified as Sanju Devi was forced to stay alone in a Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) quarter in Subhash Nagar Colony since Monday.

She survived on flattened rice(chura) till she was rescued by her daughter Chandni Devi, as she was alerted by a group of neighbours.

As per reports, Sanju Devi cried of hunger, which alerted her neighbours. Her daughter Chandni rushed to the house upon receiving the information. Ramgarh police also arrived at the site and broke the lock to rescue the elderly woman.

The neighbours immediately offered her food. She was later admitted to the nearest hospital for treatment.

However, Akhilesh Kumar, the son claimed that they left for Prayagraj after making all the arrangements for her food and care.
