Mr. Chandrachud has officially proposed the second senior-most judge of the Supreme court as his successor Justice Sanjiv Khanna

 

Digital Desk: Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, the 50th Chief Justice of India, announced his retirement on November 10, 2024 putting an end to his two year long tenure serving as the Chief Justice.

 

Mr. Chandrachud has officially proposed the second senior most judge of the Supreme court as his successor Justice Sanjiv Khanna making him the 51st to be Chief Justice , of Supreme court, upon the approval by the Union Government. Sanjiv Khanna was appointed as the judge of Supreme Court on Jan,2019 and is known for his expertise in this work of field.

 
Justice Khana will serve for six months as the Chief Justice before his retirement, on May 13, 2025 completing his term  as per the age limit of Supreme Court  Chief Justice of India, which is 65 years.
