Digital Desk: A man from Karnataka slit his wife's neck when she was on the premises of a local court in the Hassan district on Saturday. After killing his wife, the father attempted to attack his baby, but onlookers stopped him, and the youngster was saved.

The event took place when the couple's divorce case was being heard in Holenarasipura Town Court. The deceased was identified as Chaitra, a resident of Thattekere village, and the accused was identified as Shivakumar from Holenarasipura taluk.

They had a daughter and had been married for seven years. A Lok Adalat requested the couple to withdraw their divorce papers and resolve the matter amicably while considering the future of their child on Saturday.

After approximately one hour of counselling, both parties decided to withdraw their divorce papers and agree to cohabitate for the benefit of the child.

But soon after, Shivakumar followed Chaitra to the courthouse restroom where he attacked her with a knife and slashed her throat. After that, he even attempted to murder his infant daughter, but bystanders stopped him and turned him over to the police.

Chaitra was rushed by ambulance from Holenarsipura to Hassan District Hospital after suffering critical injuries, but she later passed away of her injuries.
