Digital Desk: An eight-year-old girl died after her family of six allegedly attempted suicide by eating poison at their home in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal.

Kishore Jatav, 40, a contractor who lives with his family in Khajuri, was reportedly anxious about not being able to fulfil the tasks due to financial difficulties.

Jatav and his 35-year-old wife Sita drank poison on Wednesday and fed poison-laced milk to their children Kanchan (15), Purva (8), Annu (10) and Abhay (12).

Purva died this morning while being treated in a hospital, and her siblings are thought to be in critical condition. Their parents are no longer under danger.

According to Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, the police are investigating the matter and a case has been filed.
