Imphal: Manipur government announced it would create 18 new posts-old in the sports quota to accommodate the Olympians of Manipur.


Additionally, it rubber-stamps the direct recruitment of Sushila Pukhrambam, a player of the women Hockey team, as a Sun-Inspector of police.


During the cabinet meeting, the decisions were taken to boost the athletes from the State who brought laurels to the State.


Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, “During the cabinet meeting, we have sanctioned the proposal for the formation of new posts-old. They are Joint directors, Five Deputy Directors and 10 assistance directors in Sports department.”


“We approved the direct recruitment of hockey player Sushila Pukhrambam as Sub-Inspector.” added.


Further, CM Singh asserted that we are looking forward to accommodate all the future sportsperson of the State in other departments.


“I have learnt that most of the national and international players have joined the Indian Railways as ticket collectors.” said CM Biren.


“Now our player no longer will work as ticket collector, they will get job that suits them the best as per the status.” added.


Notably, Mirabai, following her win at Tokyo Olympics Railway Minister, gave her Rs 2 crore and promised her to promote to a higher post. However, Mirabai refused the offer and accepted the post given by the Manipur government
