The videos of their dead bodies became widely circulated on social media...

Digital Desk: Thousands of students in Imphal, Manipur, protested in the streets after photos of the dead bodies of two missing Meitei teenagers who were allegedly murdered by accused Kuki Militants went viral. The students demanded justice for the brutal killings of the two youths.

The videos of their dead bodies became widely circulated on social media.

However, the state government issued a late-night press release describing the horrific killings of the two students in an effort to prevent any potential protests, dissent, or unrest.

According to the press release, the state government became aware of the photos on social media of two students, Phijam Hemjit (20 years old) and Hijam Linthoingambi (17 years old), who have been missing since July 2023.

It should be noted that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already received this case at the request of the state's residents. In order to discover more about the circumstances of their disappearance and identify the murderers, the state police are aggressively looking into the matter in cooperation with national security organizations.

Security forces have also initiated a search operation to arrest the culprits.
