Shillong: Meghalaya government ordered to set up police outposts-old in the border area of Assam-Meghalaya; already the Meghalaya government has finalized different locations for the same, said Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma.

Reportedly, setting up the police outposts-old in the Assam-Meghalaya border came after the tension occurred in the Assam-Mizoram border.

However, CM Sangma stated that the state government set up the police outposts-old only in the non-sensitive areas with no border disputes.

"We will not set up police outposts-old in the sensitive areas as it will create more tension among the two states," said CM Sangma.

Moreover, the CM Sangma added that he had a conversation with the Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma about the clash between the locals and Assam Police at Longkhuli village in Ri Bhoi districts.

"We both come to a conclusion that there should not be any further rise of such incidents and both the government will try to maintain the peace in the border area of Assam." Sangma said.
